A Photo a Week Challenge: Red

red_nmp

It’s another color challenge! We love color challenges. I do love color challenges, because they allow a lot more freedom. Red has become one of my favorite colors. My closet is full of various shades of reds. I think it’s because red goes so well with my first favorite color, green. When photographing red, it can be tricky to make sure the color doesn’t take over too much. It can also shade the rest of the image, depending on the lighting. Good luck, photogbugs! Have fun with the color red.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A SERIES OF PHOTOS THAT FEATURE THE COLOR RED.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.
  3. Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.

A Photo a Week Challenge Rain Drops

raindrops2_nmp raindrops_nmp

As spring comes to an end here in the Northern Hemisphere, we are experiencing wonderful rain and thunderstorms. In Utah, the moisture is especially needed for the long, hot summer months ahead until we get our second monsoon season in late August. We were at a family wedding waiting in the rain for the couple to make their first appearance after the ceremony when I spotted these lovely tulips dripping from the storm. My husband helped me out by holding the umbrella over me as I captured some fun shots.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO THAT FEATURE RAIN DROPS.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Stripes

Striped yellow tulip

Our world is a maze of shapes, colors, and images. Without any one of them, it wouldn’t be nearly as fascinating to look at and photograph. This week is all about stripes: stripes in nature, buildings, clothing, anything. What’s the most unusual place you’ve found stripes? This tulip is one of my favorites. It was in a bed with other beautiful tulips and flowers, but this is the one that really caught my eye.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO THAT ARE STRIPES OF SOME KIND.

Have fun experimenting with finding stripes all around you.  Then blog your finds and post a link to your masterpieces here.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

has reached 300+ non-Facebook generated followers! Wahoo! I want to thank everyone who has liked, commented, and linked to the posts and photos. You guys are great.

So, it’s time for another giveaway. Yay!

Rules: Anyone who can read this blog may enter (including family members). International entries are acceptable. If you are the winner, the only “off limits” images are the ones that are people you aren’t related to or don’t know personally. (There are few things I can think of that give me the creeps more than someone displaying a non-artistic picture of people they don’t know. *shudder*)

How to Enter: Starting today and ending at midnight on April 30, 2014, comment or like this post.

Prize: An 11×14 of any one of the images on this blog (I do own all the rights to them, after all) — barring the limitations mentioned in the Rules. The winner will be selected randomly in a drawing on May 1, 2014. I will post who the winner is on the blog and how to contact me so that I can send you the print. I live in the Western United States, so delivery time will be affected by how far away you live from me and what the mail service is like there.

Thanks, again, for all of the support! You are the best!

(And just because this is a photography blog, here’s another picture.)
