A Photo a Week Challenge: Literary Reference

literary1_nmpLiterary2_nmpLiterary3_nmp

I had the chance to do newborn photos for a brilliant young couple (who just happen to be related to me) that are super geeky. They love Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I got to take pictures with stuffed Hobbs and Totoro. Sometimes we set up things to have literary references, and sometimes they just come naturally (like the third photo here of a tree that looked like an Ent from Lord of the Rings). I’m really hoping to some day take a picture that looks like the wind sweeping across the moors in northern England or sand dunes that burn with the heat of the sun like Lawrence of Arabia. There is so much scope for the imagination.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR THREE OR…) THAT HAVE A LINK TO LITERATURE, MOVIES, OR ANY OTHER ENTERTAINMENT.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography. Here’s how it works:

  1. Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ and “Photo a Week” tags.
  3. Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Spring

spring_nmp

Utah has had a long, cold winter this year, but spring has finally made its first appearance. And my hey fever is going crazy as proof. Luckily for me, I had my camera with me when I pulled into work earlier this week and was able to nab some lovely photos of the blossoming trees that are wreaking havoc with my sinuses. Whether you are heading into spring or it is a distant memory as your summer is coming to and end, this week’s challenge is to post some of your favorite spring or spring-inspired images.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR MORE) THAT DEPICT SPRING.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Green

I have never been anywhere that is as green as Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

Cee’s Black & White Challenge: Open Topic

This week, Cee has decided to let us all choose our own subjects. Mine is a lovely old tree in front of the LDS Los Angeles Temple. Many a bride and groom have had their photos taken under this tree.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Dark Green

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep.”
— “Stopping by a wood on a snowy evening” by Robert Frost

Dark, dark green is my favorite color. It has been since I can remember. The deeper and darker the better. I love walking through woods and forests. I love the old, decrepit pine trees that shade the east side of our house. I love the smell of wet trees (is that weird?). When plants begin to grow, no matter what they will turn into, the first bit that pops up out of the ground is green. To me, green is the color of life.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE ONE OR TWO OR MORE PHOTOS FEATURING THE COLOR GREEN.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.
