A Photo a Week Challenge: Square

square_nmp

Most cameras take pictures in a 6″x4″ format. I like playing around with canvas sizes, especially using a square format. I found this wonderful glass brick window in an older apartment building while walking around the Roger’s Park area of Northern Chicago. With all of the uniform square bricks, I thought it would be fun to crop it to a square.

This week, the subject of your photo is up to you, but please crop your image into a square.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR MORE) OF SQUARE-FORMATTED PHOTOS.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.
  3. Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.
  4. Follow nancy merrill photography so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements.

I love looking at different shapes. I love how they form our world, and how variety creates beauty. I also love baking. My sister introduced me to a square cupcake pan that I finally got around to using. It is amazing and fun.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OF SQUARES.

Look around and find the squares around you. Blog an image that represents squares to you and post a link to your find here.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

A Word a Week Challenge: Square

London and it’s boroughs abound with squares. We stayed in a lovely bed & breakfast in Norfolk Square (easy walking distance from Paddington Station).
