Walking around Staffa Island and down into Fengal’s Cave was an amazing adventure. I’ve always wanted to visit the Hebrides, and I’m so glad we made it!

We just returned from the land of a thousand (I don’t believe I’m exaggerating here) ruined castles, cathedrals, and abbeys. Arches abound in the land of King Arthur and Brits, and I love it! Here are some arches from Jedbrough and Paisley Abbeys (one a ruin, the other still functioning as a church).

This is looking down through the Atrium at Sir Duncan Rice Library on the campus of the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Cool building.

While visiting Scotland, we really wanted to meet some highland cows (or as my sister calls them, “heelund coos”). And did we ever meet them. Our first encounter was with a small group of cows on the single lane track road we had to take to one of our hotels. There was a rather large cow standing in the middle of a bridge we had to cross. Not knowing if the cows are aggressive (they aren’t) or if this one would take it in her head to use her horns against the car (she didn’t), we proceeded with great caution. As we inched closer, she obligingly, but very slowly, moved out of our way. Later, we met up with a couple of heelunders near some standing stones (this picture is of one of them), and we soon had plenty of pictures of these beautiful animals.

My husband and I just returned from a two-week vacation to Scotland and England. This picture is from the Isle of Mull near sunset. The picture does not do the beauty justice. I highly recommend visiting this unique part of the world.
Thanks for the fun challenge, Cee!
I like how the window frame is not straight, but the horizon almost is. It’s a nice contrast. I took this picture from one of the towers at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland.
