A Photo a Week Challenge: Orange

orange_nmp

Orange is a really fun color to photograph. There are many things in nature that are orange: pumpkins, oranges, flowers. This little fellow really, really wanted to join his big brothers playing at the Christmas piano recital. Even though he was a little young to take lessons, he came all ready in his dapper orange sweater. He was also thrilled to get a chance at the 9′ concert Steinway grand piano after the formal recital was over.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE PHOTOS THAT FEATURE THE COLOR ORANGE.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ and “Photo a Week” tags.
  3. Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.
  4. Follow nancy merrill photography so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Halloween

Halloween_nmp

In honor of Halloween next Tuesday, this week is all about the spooks, scares, and traditions of this holiday. My husband and I like carving pumpkins. This year, he found the biggest pumpkin I have ever owned. It weighs over 50 pounds. I doubt it will be vandalized because the kids in our neighborhood who are into that sort of things are really wimpy. I’ve also baked cookies and two weeks ago we bought the Costco-sized bag of chocolate to give out. We will stay in that night and watch The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, a spoof of the 50s and 60s B horror/SciFi movies. Wonderfully campy and horrible dialogue. What are your Halloween traditions?

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR THREE OR…) OF OUR HALLOWEEN TRADITIONS OR JUST THINGS THAT YOU THINK ARE INDICATIVE OF THE SEASON.

2017 PhotoChallenge.org Week 42: Wheel of Photography

week42_street_orange

I recently joined a new (to me) photo challenge at PhotoChallenge.org. For this challenge, you are supposed to take a new photo for the challenge and not dip into your archive. For this week, we got to spin the double wheel of photography. I got Street Photography and the Color Orange. I know that this is not what is meant by Street Photography, but I’m not sure I’ll make it downtown this week, so this is as close as I might get. This is a street close to my home. (It’s almost urban, so it should count, right?)

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Orange

Wooden pumpkinsThis is my first time entering Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge. We drove past these wooden pumpkins that are used as props for a Halloween corn maze. They were so weather beaten, much like the old truck that is their off-season home, that we couldn’t resist stopping and snapping a few fotos of them.

Thanks for another fun challenge, Cee!
