A Photo a Week Challenge: Take a New Photo

Today was a bit of a banner day. My husband and I got our first dose of the Covid vaccine. Wahoo. Now I just have to get over the sore arm (and the possible symptoms in three weeks when we get our second dose). To celebrate, we hit one of our favorite burger places, Crown Burger. If you haven’t been to Utah and experienced crown burger, I highly suggest a visit just for the pastrami burger. Just for fun, and because food is a lot of fun to photograph, I grabbed a shot of our shared meal. The burger is big enough to share, and the onion rings are divine. The book is my current read, so I was able to get in a few pages while I waited for my husband to get to the restaurant (he had to visit a job site on the way back to the office from the shots, and the restaurant was nearby so I went ahead and ordered while he finished up his meeting).

A Photo a Week Challenge: Something New

We recently bought a new mirrorless camera. It’s been really fun playing around with it. I still need to get used to a lot of things with it, but I plan on taking a lot of pictures with it in the next few weeks. You’ll probably see some of them in future challenges. This recipe for venison stew is not new to me, but I had just finished making this pot of stew when I took the photo, so it was new for dinner.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Something new

One of my greatest joys as a photographer is taking pictures of brand-new babies. This little cutie was only three days old when I took her newborn photos. She was restless, cried a little, slept a lot, and was just generally so sweet and precious. It always stops me when I think of how amazing new life really is.

A Photo a Week Challenge: New

New Year’s is Tuesday. I’ve always wondered why we begin the year in the middle of winter. The world is hibernating; most people hunker down and only head outside when absolutely necessary. On Tuesday, the calendar turns over and 2019 will make its appearance. What will the new year hold for each of us?

My photos are new outside Christmas lights for our house.

A Photo a Week Challenge: New Photo, Open Topic

new_open2_nmp

It’s been a very tense couple of months, and I’ve found myself not taking my camera out with me as much as I used to. So for this week’s challenge, I decided that I needed to take a new picture. Of anything. Just get the camera out and take a picture. Well, today is mine and my husband’s 9th wedding anniversary. We’ve been wanting to get a Traeger smoker/grill from some time and finally decided that for us, at least, the 9th anniversary is the grill anniversary (not the pottery one, as all of the traditional lists will tell you). Today, my loving hubby smoked and then grilled a couple of elk pot roasts on our new toy. The meat was delicious, and we couldn’t be happier with our purchase (unless it could have cost a little less money). And just in case you were thinking I should post a picture of the grill, maybe next time.
