A Photo a Week Challenge: Ice, Ice Baby

Even though winter is still two weeks away–officially–we are experiencing cold temperatures and the occasional bout of snow and ice. Here’s a nice dramatic icicle for your viewing pleasure. Of course, ice doesn’t just mean cold, frozen water. Have a lot of fun this week seeing what you can find for ice, ice, baby.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE ONE OR TWO OR MORE PHOTOS FEATURING ICE.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.
  3. Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.
  4. Follow nancy merrill photography so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements.

With Utah’s winter taking on a life of its own this year, I thought it was time to pull out a cool, icy image for this week’s challenge. Of course, ice doesn’t just mean cold, frozen water. Have a lot of fun this week seeing what you can find for ice, ice, baby.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Winter chill

Snowy tree

On Tuesday, Salt Lake City was hit with the first big snowstorm of the season. We received about three inches of fresh powder in the valley, and the ski resorts are bursting with joy over the dump in the mountains. Here, it takes a fall of at least 1-1/2 feet before the city shuts down, so it was a bit dicey getting home.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO THAT SHOWS WHAT WINTER IS FOR YOU.

So, what does winter chill feel like to you? I know that some readers are gearing up for summer and thoughts of winter are probably the last thing on your mind. And others never see a flake of snow all year. Get creative. Have fun with it. If your “winter” consists of a slight dip in the temperature, think kindly on us poor souls who will be buried under mounds of the white stuff for the next six months.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

(Yes, I stole these rules from The Daily Post Photo Challenge. I hope they don’t mind.)
