Thankful November 14th: Flowers

I love flowers. I love smelling flowers. I love looking at flowers. And I especially love photographing flowers. My maternal grandmother had the most amazing flower garden: roses, lilies, snapdragons, daisies. Each summer, her small yard was transformed by colors and scents that transported us to a fairy world.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Three of a Kind

Last week I asked you to obey the rule of threes. This week, I want you to take three photos of the same subject, but from different angles or distances or whatever. This will give you the chance to look at your subject in a lot of different ways. This is the only rule, so have fun.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE THREE DIFFERENT PHOTOS OF THE SAME SUBJECT.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.
  3. Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Delicate

Sorry about the late night posting for this challenge. It’s been a couple of crazy, stressful weeks. But that’s for another time. This week’s challenge is delicate. These beautiful blossoms drew me, and I’ve used other images from this same shoot for other challenges. I love the delicate look of the petals and the delicate pink coloring.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO THAT FEATURE DELICACY.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

A Photo a Week Challenge: Nature’s White

white1_nmp

While the weather in Utah is having a hard time deciding if it’s spring or if winter is still around, my nose is definitely telling me that it’s spring. Hay fever season seems to be fully upon us, even though blossoms and sprouting plants are just barely making their appearances. These beautiful blooms got me last spring, and I’m sure they’ll get me again this year. I love the soft whiteness of their petals.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A NEW PHOTO OR TWO (OR MORE) FEATURING WHITE AS FOUND IN NATURE.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Spring

Utah has had a long, cold winter this year, but spring has finally made its first appearance. And my hey fever is going crazy as proof. Luckily for me, I had my camera with me when I pulled into work earlier this week and was able to nab some lovely photos of the blossoming trees that are wreaking havoc with my sinuses. Whether you are heading into spring or it is a distant memory as your summer is coming to and end, this week’s challenge is to post some of your favorite spring or spring-inspired images.

IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR MORE) THAT DEPICT SPRING.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.
