A still life is a painting or photograph that features inanimate objects, typically bowls of fruit and bottles wine. For my still life, I’ve chosen a bottle of fruit. Once again, it is fruit season in Utah, so we, of course, are bottling fruit. This time, it’s cherries.
IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO OF STILL LIFE PHOTOGRAPHY.
Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.
Here’s how it works:
- Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
- To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ and “Photo a Week” tags.
- Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.
- Follow nancy merrill photography so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements.

I often take photos of food as I make it sometimes it turns out to be a Still life (sort of) https://lightwords.blog/2019/08/08/looks-good-enough-to-eats/
Were those cherries as good as they look?
I posted too on this topic. Hope you check it out. Thanks Nancy for hosting!
Hi Nancy,
Here is my entry for this week. Enjoy!
Finally getting into the weekly thread of the blog challenges! Hope you have been doing well. Am glad to offer this still life, the way (in the shade) it appeared in the big picture, rather than the detailed one.

Hi Nancy 😁 My first entry for your challenge: https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2019/08/09/a-photo-a-week-challenge-still-life-sort-of/
The pingback doesn’t seem to be working, so here is our still life: https://iballrtw.com/2019/08/09/still-life-with-pears-and-pomegranate/
My pingbacks haven’t worked properly for a couple of years now.
Our pingbacks stopped working for a few months, then worked again for most posts (but not all). Now likes don’t work when I use a tablet. 🤔
I’ve contacted WordPress help, but always seemed 6 to 8 hours ahead or behind their availability.

Is it too late for another still life? If not this is my shot of the day: https://photographyocd.com/2019/08/09/bad-onions/
I love cherries. These look delicious!
They were so good. We got them from a local farmer.
Love bottling fruit.. never done cherries..
Very similar to apricots. Take the stems off and check for worms. For cherries, we don’t pit them. Fill with hot sugar water (less than 1/2 C sugar for each bottle), add the lid and ring, and cook in the boiling water bath for 35 minutes. I like to let them sit on the shelf for 3 months before opening them.
I would have done cherries, but you did such good cherries, I had to do something else: peaches!
I like peaches. 🙂
The cherries look mysterious, yet delicious 🙂
This was pre-sugar water and hot water bath. They have to boil for 35 minutes. 🙂
Interesting process! I’ll bet it’s worth the work 🙂
It is!
Lovely The jar! Here’s some coffee – https://myheart2heart.blog/2019/08/13/coffee-with-a-difference/
My sick interpretation. No really…
Still life isn’t normally my style, but these bottles called to me! https://travelwithintent.com/2019/08/14/the-shetland-reel/
