We have a popular hymn at our church called There Is Sunshine In My Soul. I love the words to the first verse:
There is sunshine in my soul today,
More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
For Jesus is my light.
This song reminds me to find light even on cloudy days.
This last weekend, we visited our daughter and son-in-law in Chicago. As a surprise, we took our son with us. It was his first trip to Chicago, and our daughter didn’t know we were bringing him. The kids have had a difficult year. Their mom was killed in August, and they’ve struggled to find any sunshine through their grief and pain. This weekend helped me to know that they will make it through and help each other as they navigate these new waters.

It’s weird since I’m not a Christian, but I do so love church music. It is uplifting and beautiful to hear and sing. And that’s a beautiful picture, too.
Thanks, Marilyn. I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (sometimes known as Mormons or LDS), and we just had our semi-annual general conference. One of the highlights for me each time is the music. The Tabernacle Choir (famously known as the MoTab) always has amazing arrangements. Mack Wilberg, who is the current director, used to be the head of the choral program at Brigham Young University. His choirs were always winning national and international awards.

About my post “The time I almost…” sometimes when one is in the middle of a journey, it’s easy to think “I’m outside the box” forgetting that even with creativity, one can be guided by logic in looking for a subject that would fit the conference. Was jolted into God sometimes using us for that one sheep that is almost going off the deep end.
