In the northern hemisphere, tomorrow (September 22) is the first day of fall. The weather is turning cool, the kids are back in school, and the foliage is putting on a brilliant color show. Fall is my favorite time of year. It has my favorite holidays (Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the build up to Christmas). I love pulling out sweaters and drinking hot chocolate. I even look forward to the first real snow fall (though I’m completely sick of the white stuff by January 4). Welcome, fall! Please hang out with us for a while.
IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR THREE OR…) OF THINGS THAT MEAN FALL TO YOU.
Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography. Here’s how it works:
- Each week, I’ll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
- To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “A Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ and “Photo a Week” tags.
- Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.
- Follow nancy merrill photography so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements.
To me, living in the southern Hemisphere, fall means waiting another year until it rolls around!
🙂
🙂
So far, it’s not here yet although I have tons of fall pictures from previous autumns. But here, it’s going to be at least another week. No matter how much I year for it. A few yellow leaves doth not an autumn make. Yet.
Not yet, true.
I’m a glutton, I suppose: autumn to me means food and drink (yes, to my peril!)
LOL! 🙂
We went out on a searching for autumn excursion and alas, all we found was a lot of humidity, wind, and rain. The remnants of Jose and frankly, it feels like mid August, not late September. So, in the name of getting this up before the week is over, I’m going to return to the glorious days of October 2016. Autumn — the last fall before Trump. Oh the glory of it all! Happy Holidays, in case you celebrate.
Thanks, Marilyn! Happy Holidays, to you, too!
Lovely shot. So peaceful. Fall does make me sad as the days grow shorter. http://3rsofretirement.com/2017/09/21/signs-of-fall/
beautiful fall colours!
Thanks!
I finally went with a hint of fall, which is all we’ve got. The rains of Jose have been continuous all week. Not heavy, but ranging from light to drizzle and always cloudy. We got these the day before the rains arrived. I figured it would be the last photo day for a while — and i was right.

I love autumn! Much more than summer to be honest. Here’s my post: https://elostravels.wordpress.com/2017/09/26/a-photo-a-week-challenge-signs-of-autumn/
Just found your challenge, a little to late to name my post from earlier, but wanted to share anyway: https://glovergardens.com/2017/09/26/flashback-to-colorados-fall-colors-looking-forward-to-a-train-ride-along-the-mountainside/ . Love the simplicity of your photo challenge, and your photos.
Mercury is still above 30° C (86°F) in my town. Fall seems like a distant object right now 🙂
We are finally in normal temps here in Utah, but just a couple of weeks ago we were 10-20F above normal.
