My husband is a structural engineer, so we visit construction sites frequently. It’s a lot of fun taking pictures of something that started out as an idea on paper and then becomes reality. This photo is the garage of a very large custom home. The combination of steel and wood provides a great visual contrast. Mixing and matching materials can give your images a lot of interest.
IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR MORE) THAT FEATURE MORE THAN ONE MATERIAL.
Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isnโt about photography.
Hereโs how it works:
- Each week, Iโll come up with a theme and post a photo that I think fits. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blogย (a new post!)ย anytime before the following Thursday, when the next photo theme will be announced.
- To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post โA Photo a Week Challenge: (theme of the week)โ and be sure to use the โpostadayโณย tag.
- Come back here and post a link to your image in the comments for this challenge.
- Followย nancy merrill photographyย so that you donโt miss out on weekly challenge announcements.
I am amazed that your prompts seem to be perfectly timed for a photo I just have taken! Great challenge and the photo you chose is perfect. My two materials were also construction related: glass and steel.

Hi Nancy. Here’s my contribution to the theme: https://judydykstrabrown.com/2017/03/31/material-times-two-partners/
That is some sizeable garage. I would think it is likely that that your husband has heard of my offering in Prague http://farmerswifedaybyday.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/a-photo-week-challenge-two-materials.html
And here’s mine ๐ https://teepee12.com/2017/04/03/two-parts/
The lines looks so amazing here and I really love such patterns. Reason might be being an engineer myself, though not the structural one.
My husband was fascinated by how the curve of the lens bends the beams. He figures that the vanishing point in almost in the dead center of the photo. ๐
I couldn’t agree more with him ๐
