For the challenge this week, Stacy at Visual Venturing has provided a lovely photo by Loré Dombaj. Here is my final version
So, I started with the original image:
It really is a lovely image. I thought it would be interesting to bring more focus to the flowers in the center. First, I toned down the saturation on the background layer and then created a black and white layer.
Next, I erased a large, feathered circle in the center to bring out the colors from the background layer.
Next, I bumped up the saturation on only the reds.
And finally, I deepened the contrast.

Great use selective color. I like your presentation.
Thanks, Cee!
Well done, Nancy. I really like what you did. 🙂
Thanks!
I also thought about using selective colour but went a different way. I like how the process came out. Nice work
Beautiful work. I love your explanation as well.
Great use of selective colour, I considered using it here, but couldnt figure out how to do it to pick up all the different shades in the foliage so went another way. Lovely job!
Thanks!
Wow, you make it sound so easy to use selective coloring in Photoshop. I really must give it a try 🙂 Fun, interesting approach, Nancy with a lovely result!
Thanks! Good luck!
I’ve always liked the look of selective coloring but have never gotten it figured out. I really need to buckle down and learn how to do it.
I loved the effect and how the picture turned out. Putting the rest of it to black and white really accentuated the patterns and the textures.

Thanks, Nancy!
This looks lovely and you made it sound effortless.
It was really fun. I enjoy playing around with PhotoShop, and I’m just learning some of the neat tricks you can do with some of the adjustments. Thanks!
I have never tried selective coloring. It worked very nicely on this photo!
Thanks!
