We just returned from the land of a thousand (I don’t believe I’m exaggerating here) ruined castles, cathedrals, and abbeys. Arches abound in the land of King Arthur and Brits, and I love it! Here are some arches from Jedbrough and Paisley Abbeys (one a ruin, the other still functioning as a church).

I so love these- I got back at the end of September from Scotland and Ireland!
Great pics, Nancy. I love visiting old ruins. These in your photos, although in ruins, are still magnificent. 🙂
Thanks! 🙂 I’m hoping to do a post of just pictures from our trip (still making our way through the 4,000+ photos we took). There is a unique beauty in the ruins, rich with the history of the people who built and lived there.
Wow! 4,000+ photos almost made me choke on my green tea. 😯 Good luck with that, Nancy.
My sister and her husband took over 6,000 when they went to England in the summer of 2013. Luckily, I have some great photo software to help me get through them, because I like to shoot in RAW, which can be a pain to work with, but I love the results. 🙂 I currently have a stash of 175 that I have “ready” for viewing and keep on my iPad to show people.
To have lived in the times when they were built, just imagine! beautiful photos 🙂
Thank you! We were able to visit several places built by and lived in by some of our ancestors. Amazing!
I’m so envious! 😊😊
Great photo’s Nancy!
Thanks!
Great photos. 😀
Thanks!
Nice arches, Nancy. On the subject of your ‘thousand’ quote, one of our tour guides once asked if we’d started our ABC yet? Take your pick as to whether he meant ‘Another Bloody Church or Castle’!
Thanks! It’s easy to get quickly saturated on castles, cathedrals, and abbeys ruins in the U.K. And the number of ruins is also a bit overwhelming. We have so many places we’ve put on our “next time” list.
